The Idea

The flashmob-idea arose while Maren Wortmann talked to her friends about how to survive as a dance school during covid.

"Online-Training" was her answer. It was important for her to stay in contact with her students and also giving them a structure in their everyday life.

The idea for the flashmob came up as Maren started working together with her friends on a concept and tried to have a better perspective for the time after the lockdown.

This was for every student as well as for Maren a ray of hope during those times.

She created a choreography to the song „BELIEVE IN YOURSELF“ from the Ehrlich Brothers and started to work together with her team to achieve the vision.

The song is about believing in yourself and about how to stand up if you should ever fall down. It fits perfectly to the current as well as to the daily situations one has to go through.

In April 2020 the Dance Company Herford’s Online-Training was even included in the “WDR-Lokalzeit”.

The feedback was unbelievable. A lot of people from Germany, Austria and Switzerland contacted Maren and stated that they would also like to become a part of the flashmob. Therefore, the idea came up to ask additional dance schools whether they would like to become a part as well.

For Maren it is important that the flashmob would not only be a one-time show bringing happiness, but rather achieving something lasting and impactful. She reached out to Patrick Kowalewski, inSpiriT®-Coach as well as owner of the BOAT-Academy, and told him about the project and her wish to organise a BELIEVE IN YOURSELF-seminar.

Maren says „While working daily with children and adolescent, I witness all the struggles they experience, and also concerning grown-ups. Everything has to be perfect, the make-up and the figure. Especially the life has to be successful, exciting and one should always have fun. But what happens behind the scenes?”

Patrick was thrilled and immediately said yes. The BELIEVE IN YOURSELF-seminar aims to help the people love themselves the way they are. Everyone should try to accept their past and forgive. Always keeping a positive attitude towards to past and the future.

Over time the project began to grow bigger and more and more people told their own BELIEVE IN YOURSELF-story. Through sharing the stories, others were encouraged and realised that there will always be a solution for a problem.

The BELIEVE IN YOURSELF-team decided to capture these experiences.

In the meantime, several artists and companies contacted Maren and ask to promote and support the project. We will regularly report about this in the NEWS-section.

The small idea has resulted into a huge and unbelievable lovely project. However, for Maren and her team it is more than just a project, it is a message which emotionally effects and motivates people.

Everyone has a BELIEVE IN YOURSELF-story and knows the feeling of having doubt of one’s own ability to achieve something and someone saying: „You can do this if you have faith in yourself!“ - BELIEVE IN YOURSELF!

The big final – the flashmob – will of course only take place when it is officially allowed to celebrate together. Every dance school will get informed about the certain date and time to dance the BELIEVE IN YOURSELF-choreography together, in their own cities.
